If you’re looking for the perfect outing to kick off the holiday season, the Washington National Opera has a crowd-pleaser in store for you. Bring the whole family for a night at the theater to watch the WNO’s revival performance of Engelbert Humperdinck’s chamber opera Hansel and Gretel. Kids will love seeing one of their favorite Brothers Grimm stories come to life on stage at the large and brash Kennedy Center. As an added bonus, this German “fairytale opera” serves as a fun-filled introduction to classical music for the little ones. With props like an exploding onstage oven, performances from the WNO Children’s Chorus, and set design the Washington Post described as straight out of “a comic book by Dr. Seuss”, this is one enchanting holiday extravaganza you definitely won’t want to miss.
