5 DC Liquor Distilleries You Can Visit

Wineries and breweries are officially old hat now that DC is home to a new crop of local distilleries. Take a weekend to head out to some of our favorite spots for locally made vodka, gin, whisky, and rum.

District Distilling Co.

A ten-minute drive from the St. Gregory, this airy U Street distillery features steampunk-style decor (think giant, brass vats). Make sure to sign up for a tour so you can sample the spirits on offer, which include rum, vodka, gin, and whiskey. Once you’re done snapping pictures and sipping your shot glasses, head to the bar for a smooth cocktail.

Women power is the name of the game at this 100 percent female-owned distillery in Northeast DC. The vodka-and whiskey-focused spot offers tours of its premises, along with private tastings, to interested booze-lovers on weekends. You can also head to the tasting room to try cocktails like a ginger-inflected Moscow Mule.
