Have the perfect spring day out with a picnic and a glass (or several) of wine at the Mount Vernon Spring Wine Festival & Sunset Tour. Visitors to George Washington’s historic home will get the chance to tour the grounds and see how the first president stored his own wine before embarking on tasting of his or her own, with samples from twenty different local wineries. Bring a picnic blanket to sit on the mansion’s east lawn and look out at the Potomac River as you listen to live jazz music, meet George and Martha Washington impersonators, and indulge in a cheese and fruit plate. Since this is the estate’s most popular event of the year, make sure to snap up tickets in advance.
