Experience a melding of two cultures when classical tabla musician Zakir Hussain comes to DC to play with the National Symphony Orchestra this spring. Hussain will showcase his concerto Peshkar, backed by the NSO. The performance will offer audiences a unique opportunity to see classical Indian music blended with traditional Western instruments. After the concerto, Hussain will play alongside santoor player Rahul Sharma, giving listeners a chance to hear two true musical virtuosos playing together. As an added bonus, audiences at this late Friday night show can bring food and drinks into the auditorium, providing a casual, homey atmosphere to listen to some of the world’s most innovative musicians.
