Luckily, we’ve done the hard work of taste-testing our way through the District to select the best contenders for after-work cocktails at killer prices.

Thai ChefHappy Hour: Everyday, 4-7pm

A short walk away from the St. Gregory, this hole-in-the-wall sushi joint is the perfect place to meet up with friends or colleagues for a budget-and-tastebud friendly feast. The steal? All drinks are priced at $4 and you can score twenty-six different types of maki and nigiri sushi, all under $6. Our personal favorite has to be the Spicy Crunchy Albacore Roll, which comes paired with avocado and tempura.

Ping Pong Dim SumHappy Hour: Monday-Friday, 4-7 pm

While the night away at this Gallery Place hotspot, where you’ll find dozens of young professionals chowing down on pillowy, hoisin sauce-laden duck bao sliders or the flaky, buttery honey-roasted chicken puffs. When it comes to drinks, you won’t be disappointed with the delicate and fruity lychee and roses martini. The best part is that literally everything on the happy hour menu comes out to $5 a pop.

This trendy, British-influenced Dupont Circle hangout evokes afternoons spent with a pint at the local pub. The gastropub’s extended happy hour has to be one of DC’s best-kept secrets. Grab a seat on the patio and order up the city-famous Proper Burger for a delicious afternoon.

Crisp Kitchen + BarHappy Hour: Everyday, 5-8 pm

With a menu featuring Nashville hot chicken and poutine crafted by Food Network star contestant Alex McCoy, Crisp had DC residents buzzing even before its opening date. Throw in a daily happy hour with $5 cocktails, beers, and wine and you’ve got yourself a surefire winner.

This U Street hotspot hosts happy hour everyday from 5-7 pm, with over 15 different glasses of wine at $5 each. In summertime, head for the outdoor courtyard, where you can join a lively game of bocce, one of DC’s favorite sports. Stick around after 7 on Sundays for Tintos y Guitarras, the restaurant’s weekly flamenco show.
